Kite Links
The American Kitefliers Association, with over 4,000 members, in 35 countries, is the largest association of kiters in the world. The AKA's purpose is to educate the public in the art, history, technology, and practice of building and flying kites - to advance the joys and values of kiting in all nations.

Kansas, being a vast flying field, is the home to the Topeka Kitefliers who host the annual Twisted Lines Kite Festival.  Contact Bob Homan at (785) 273-3715. and be sure to visit their website.

Angel Fire, NM Chamber of Commerce, if you want to know where the flatlanders from Kite Farm go to play (and fly, of course - see below!).  Check out their balloon festival and kite festival on their Special Events page
(and click here for Carol Holt's great festival pics) and we'll see you there!

And while you're in Angel Fire, please be sure to visit the Vietnam Veterans National Memorial (at right, above) and to stay at the Monte Verde RV Park for views and flights like the photo on the left and super, friendly hosts.

Los Alamos, NM is another great place to fly - and likely the only place in the country where many kites include radar-jamming technology!  Contact Cheryll Faust for festival info!

And of course, before you hit the road or trail, please be sure to choose a nice antique compass or vintage outdoor accessory at our sister site, the Oregon Trail Mercantile!
